EPHEMERA

Studio x Missing In Action

Project :: Ongoing series of illustrations based on festival and music gig tickets from the nineties and early oughts.

Ive had this idea kicking around in my head for quiet sometime - I miss getting a real printed ticket to gigs, something tangible that builds up the excitement but also a momento of that experience.

Finding a box of such ephemera from my youth sparked a rush of memories… my first concert (Alanis Morrisette), the smell of happy high herbs from Home Bake ‘98, the sheer joy of being in the mosh pit for Hole and the ‘boys with back packs’ (Gerling) singing along to ‘Ghost Patrol - you’re under arrest!’ Cutting school and catching the train to purchase festival tickets from the now defunct Red Eye Records and skulk around the city with friends for the rest of the day was all part of that collective experience.

Over the last few months I’ve been doing studies of these found tickets, collating them here with a view to a bigger installation, interrogating our connection to the lost art of the printed ticket.
